A festival uplifting BIPOC/People with marginalized backgrounds in nerd culture/the creative arts. We are so excited to provide this opportunity for BIPOC and people of marginalized backgrounds to delve into the realms of fantasy, sci-fi and the creative arts through a weekend that was created with them in mind! Decolonize & Discover is a Black, Queer led festival that will take place June17-19, 2022 at Ye Olde Commons. This event venue boasts 40 acres of woodland property including cabins and space for tent camping. There is also an onsite "tavern" with a commercial kitchen, wi-fi, makeup tables and bunk space. This festival will highlight performers of all kinds, from musicians and drag artists to extreme sports athletes to poets and painters and more! We will also host a themed cosplay contest. Panel discussions will include speakers from across the US who have made an impact in podcasting, fashion design, cosplay and beyond. We have vendors spanning multiple industries, sourced from BIPOC, Queer and Disabled business owners. If you have ever heard that you could not play/write/cosplay a character because of who you are, then this festival is a love letter to you. We hope you'll join us!
