Pleasanton School District To Begin Building New Classrooms

PLEASANTON, CA — Construction is slated to begin soon for new classrooms at Amador Valley and Foothill high schools. The Pleasanton Unified School District is inviting the public to join the virtual groundbreaking ceremonies Thursday. Amador Valley's ceremony runs from 5 to 5:30 p.m., while Foothill's ceremony runs from 5:45 to 6:15 p.m. Both will be livestreamed here. The new classroom buildings will replaced leased portables. Construction will be funded by Measure I1 funds, which Pleasanton voters passed in 2016. The bond measure put $270 million toward school upgrades. Most of the bonds issued will have a term of about 30 years, according to the district. Measure I1 funds were also slated for repairs of leaky roofs, safety concerns, modernized science labs and more, according to the district. PUSD said Measure I1 was its first bond in about 20 years.
