Revision Roadmap Final destination: polished, submission-ready draft Whether you are self-publishing or going the traditional route via an agent and a publisher, editing your literary work before submitting it to others or self-publishing is a critical step. Delia Flores, professional writer and editor, will be joining us by Zoom from Chicago, IL to teach this editing workshop. Flores began her reporting career at the Dallas Times Herald. From there she held staff positions with Reuters, The Wall Street Journal, and the Boston Globe. Having taught editing and writing at the graduate and undergraduate levels, Flores enjoys working with beginning writers. What to ExpectWhat is editing and why is it so hard for writers to edit their own work? What an editor will want to know up front. What you’ll want to ask. What are the types of edits and what they address?Where do I find an editor? What do I look for? How do I know they can do the job? Contacting them? What do they charge? How are rates determined?Where in the process should my manuscript be ready for an editor? First drafts or almost finished? Can I “audition an editor”? What do I ask them? How long will it take to edit my novel? How do I set a project timeline and deadlines? What if I need an editor to do everything? When might I not need an editor? This Zoom event can be attended remotely by Zoom or viewed with your hsbWriters colleagues in the Mesquite Room of Quail Point Lodge located at 107 Twilight Ln, Horseshoe Bay, Texas.
