PLEASANTON, CA — Voters are casting ballots for seven candidates seeking to fill two seats on the Pleasanton City Council. Councilmembers Karla Brown and Jerry Pentin, whose terms expire this month, are declining to seek another term as both are running to serve the city as mayor. The council candidates are: Nancy Allen, businesswoman; Valerie Arkin, Pleasanton Unified School District board member; Jack Balch, certified public accountant; Randy Brown, businessman; Jarod Buna, attorney; Zarina Kiziloglu, student life coordinator; and Chiman Lee, businessman. There are 966,000 registered voters in Alameda County, including some 574,000 Democrats, 246,000 nonpartisans and 107,000 Republicans.
