Pleasanton Teen Among First Women To Earn Eagle Scout Rank

PLEASANTON, CA — The highest honor given to members of Boy Scouts of America was recently awarded to a 17-year-old Pleasanton woman. Lauren Swenson-Lennox became one of the first of her gender to earn the rank of Eagle Scout, according to multiple reports. It was just in February of 2019 that the Boy Scouts of American began allowing girls to join one of the United State's oldest institutions. Last year, Lauren, along with 12 other girls, helped launch Troup 998G, the first all girl group in the Tri-Valley area, according to the Mercury News. Although a few other girls in her group have since earned the high honor, Lauren was the first to earn it on Nov. 1, according to Troup 998G's website. Other scouts, Elizabeth Goebel and Kiersten Ways earned their Eagle Scout ranking in early December. Lauren told the Mercury News that she comes from a family of scouts. Her dad and brother both earned the Eagle Rank. There are 21 merit badges to reach before the Eagle Scout rank is awarded.
