NAUGATUCK, CT — Jeff Litke, chair of the Naugatuck Board of Education, recently announced his candidacy to run for the state representative post currently held by Rosa Rebimbas, who is vacating the seat to run for probate judge.
If Litke, a former Republican who switched parties to become a Democrat, receives the nomination, he could face Republican Seth Bronko for the position. Bronko announced his candidacy for the 70th District seat last month.
"Naugatuck is a special community to me and a community that has raised me to where I am and who I am today," Litke wrote on Facebook (see below). "Serving Naugatuck in the Connecticut General Assembly would be an honor."
Litke has served on the borough's Inland Wetlands and Zoning commissions, and he is a former member of the Republican Town Committee.
He is a Human Resources Generalist for Stratford, and he has lived in Naugatuck for nearly 40 years.
"I believe we need a rep in Hartford that will go and fight for our town, fight for funding," he told My Citizen's News.
