ABERDEEN, MD — A Bel Air man driving a motorcycle on Route 22 in Aberdeen died Saturday morning after he was struck head-on by an SUV and thrown onto another vehicle that burst into flame. Maryland State Police said Zackary Michael Victor Perrone, 31, of Bel Air, died at the scene. All three vehicles caught fire; no decisions have been made on charges. The crash happened about 10 a.m. on Route 22 (Churchville Road) at Technology Drive in Aberdeen, state police said. According to investigators, a Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Perrone was westbound on Route 22 when a Honda Pilot, driven by James Grace Jr., 28, of Street, was eastbound on the road. Grace's Honda crossed over to the westbound lane and crashed head-on into Perrone's motorcycle, authorities said. A Hyundai Elantra behind the motorcycle then crashed into both vehicles. Perrone was thrown from his motorcycle and landed on the Hyundai, state police said. He was declared dead at the scene. Route 22 west was closed for about four hours after the crash. Grace was taken to the Maryland State Police Bel Air Barrack before being released to a family member. No charges have been filed at this time. The Maryland State Police Crash Team will complete the investigation before turning their findings over to the Harford County State's Attorney's Office, which will decide what charges may be filed in this case, the news release said.
