SKOKIE, IL — The Skokie Village Board last month approved a planned expansion to a medical office building on Golf Road built in 2007. Trustees unanimously granted permission to add a 1,922-square-foot addition onto the existing 7,150-square foot, one-story commercial building. Hinsdale dermatologist Vassilios Dimitropoulos purchased the property for $2.2 million from Skokie developer Andrew Sarris last year, according to property records. The building includes the Athletico Fitness at 4607 Golf Road and his University Dermatology offices at 4605 Golf Road. Under the plans village trustees approved at their Sept. 21 meeting, the medical offices are set to expand from 2,367 square feet to 4,300 square feet. The addition means there will be nine fewer parking spaces on the property. But there will still be 61 parking spots on the property, more than twice as many as are required under village code. The modified site plan also allows buildings to be within about 57 feet of the boundaries of its B4 Regional Shopping District instead the 150-foot setback that would otherwise be required. "Corporation Counsel [Michael Lorge], Plan Commission Chairman [Paul Luke], and Community Development Director [Matt Brandmeyer] reviewed the request," Luke said, in a memo to the village board. "It was their opinion that the requested site modifications are in substantial compliance with the intent of the original site plan approval ordinance." The village's appearance commission approved the new look of the building back in July, Luke said. Huntley-based architect Enrique Castel is credited with its design.
