Press release from the University of Toledo: March 18, 2022 The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will host its fourth annual Womxn of Color Symposium on Friday, March 25. "We are thrilled to be convening the fourth Womxn of Color Symposium in-person again," said Malaika Bell, interim executive director, Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. "This year, our hope is that we take our attendees on a journey; we will laugh, cry and celebrate in the company of sisters. Join us, as we dive into the power of memory, narration, reflection and connection." The Womxn of Color Symposium is a professional development opportunity designed to expand skills, increase knowledge and enhance networks to promote a more inclusive and supportive working and learning environment at The University of Toledo. This year's theme, "Thriving Forward," will focus on joy, futurism, self/community-care and resiliency. Tocarra Mallard, a New York City-based comic and writer on the Apple TV+ series "The Problem With Jon Stewart," also will perform her original material to help WOCS participants laugh and heal so that they can continue Thriving Forward. The event runs from 11:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. in Thompson Student Union Room 2592 and is open to all members of the UToledo community and Toledo-area residents. Registration is required.
