COLLINGSWOOD, NJ — A Collingswood woman in her 90s has died after testing positive for the coronavirus, Camden County officials announced on Wednesday. She is the 12th Collingswood resident to die after testing positive for the virus, and 112 cases have been identified in the borough. Fourteen new cases of the coronavirus were reported in Camden County on Wednesday, the fewest new cases since 14 were reported on March 26. There were also 12 confirmed deaths. Camden County now has 7,422 cases of the coronavirus and 428 confirmed deaths. "We are heartbroken to announce that 12 members of the Camden County community have been taken by COVID-19. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families and loved ones during this tremendously difficult period," Camden County Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli Jr. said. "The longer we study this virus, the better we have come to understand how it spreads. The absolute best way to protect yourself and others is to wear a mask in public and maintain at least six feet in distance from the nearest person. These simple steps dramatically reduce the virus' ability to spread. If we continue to take these painless, preventative steps, we can save lives and lessen the impact coronavirus has on our community moving forward." There have been 1,274 cases of the coronavirus diagnosed among residents at the county's 56 long-term care facilities with 286 confirmed deaths.
