SKOKIE, IL — A 17-year-old Skokie boy died Thursday after the motorcycle he was driving crashed into a car on Howard Street, police said. Around 9:45 a.m., Skokie police and fire personnel were dispatched to the scene of the crash in the 3500 block Howard Street. Witnesses said the teen's motorcycle was headed east through the industrial area when a sedan pulled out from a parking lot across the road from water reclamation plant and pulled in front of the motorcycle, according to police. The motorcycle rider was rushed to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston in critical condition, where he later died. His identity was not immediately released. The 65-year-old driver of the sedan, a Skokie resident, was taken to Skokie Hospital with injuries that police did not consider to be life-threatening. There was no word from police on whether the teen was wearing a helmet, from which parking lot the sedan was exiting or whether any citations had been issued to the driver. Skokie police called in the crash investigation team from a suburban major crimes task force to assist. The investigation closed Howard Street between Hamlin and St. Louis avenues for nearly 6 hours Thursday. More information will be added as it becomes available, check back for updates
