SKOKIE, IL — During the past week, there have been two armed carjacking in Skokie and another attempted carjacking, police said.
All the incidents have taken place between about 5 a.m. and 6 a.m., according to a statement issued by the Skokie Police Department Friday evening.
Police said the attempted carjacking took place in the 8300 block of Lowell Avenue at 5 a.m. on Sept. 11.
In that incident, an armed man in a mask brandished a pistol at someone in a parked car, who managed to drive away. But about 15 minutes later, three men carjacked a Chevrolet from Morton Grove at gunpoint, according to police.
The next incident took place Sunday. Around 6 a.m., two armed men with blue face masks confronted a woman in 5400 block of Lincoln Avenue. Police said she fled into her home after turning over a cell phone and the keys to her Lexus, which was found in Chicago Thursday.
On Wednesday, two armed men in blue face masks came up to a man in the 8800 block of Gross Point Road around 5:45 a.m. and demanded the keys to his Mercedes, his wallet and his phone, police said.
Someone also stole a Hyundai that had been left unattended with its engine running in the 4300 block of Emerson Street around 5 p.m. Wednesday. No detailed descriptions of the carjackers were released by police.
