Want to Adopt/Rehome A Small Dog

We are a retired couple that would like to adopt/rehome a small (25-35 lb) dog, 1 to 3 years old, that is house trained and ok with small children. We have a fenced yard but our fur baby would be living inside getting spoiled with a lot of love and attention except for potty trips or to be with us when we're outside. We do not have other dogs or cats but we have small grandchildren that visit so our new addition must be tolerant and gentle with kiddos. We can provide references of those that know how we would treat (and love) our new fur baby. Unfortunately, we cannot consider terriers or bulldogs.
