Collingswood Man Stole Cooper River Park Event Funds: Police

COLLINGSWOOD, NJ — A Camden County employee from Collingswood has been charged with stealing more than $114,000 that was intended for regattas and rowing competitions at Cooper River Park, Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer announced on Tuesday. James Stack, who previously served as the Director of Rowing at the Camden County Boathouse, deposited checks he took from various rowing organizations into privately managed bank accounts, according to authorities. The accounts were set up under the name Cooper Training Center, LLC, a company Stack owns. Detectives said evidence showed Stack would then deposit a lesser amount into accounts managed by the county. The discrepancy was caught during a county audit and reported. Investigators said they found evidence dating back to January 2018 through December 2019. The investigation is ongoing. Stack has been charged with theft by failure to make required disposition of property received and official misconduct. Stack was cited and released pending a Central Judicial Processing hearing March 10.
