MORE INFORMATION & SIGN-UPS @ www.intramuraltheater.org/tryouts After producing new and original works in New Orleans for over seven years, we’re looking to bring more bright, passionate artists - experienced and inexperienced alike - into the fold! Come try us out and see if you like us! All are welcome! We’re holding separate auditions for two new, original pieces: The Cuck by Austin-based playwright Sam Mayer, and a devised work that we’ll collaboratively build from scratch starting this April. You can audition for one or both! The Cuck is a modern re-telling of Sophocles’s Electra, in which Electra and her brother Orestes, deprived of their birthright to the Argos throne, plot out revenge against their mother and step-father to claim what’s rightfully theirs. This will be a world premiere of the newest play by Sam Mayer, who wrote Chet’s Summer Vacation. Rehearsals will start in mid-May and performances will run for three weekends in June. Our newest devised work will have three weeks of low-commitment “sketching” rehearsals in April/May. During this time, we’ll be reading, writing, and creating short études that will become the foundation for a full-length play. This is the first phase of the original, non-hierarchical devising method that we used to develop Apostles of Everest, PROTRUSION, and Synesthetics. THE CUCK AUDITIONS (4/2 & 4/3 @ 3-6PM): To audition, please come ready to perform one two-minute memorized monologue (classical, contemporary, silly, or serious!). Audition slots are 30 minutes in length, and we ask that you show up 10 minutes ahead of time. DEVISED AUDITIONS (4/2 & 4/3 @ 11AM-2PM): We’ll send you a 2-4 page article, along with a short free-writing prompt related to the text. Once you’ve read the article, we ask that you respond to the prompt by spending 15 minutes free-writing. Then, at the audition, we’ll share our responses and collaboratively build short vignettes based on people’s responses.
