Shorewood Home Depot Customer Faces 9 Felonies

JOLIET, IL — A 28-year-old man from Braidwood already facing felony charges for a series of retail thefts at the Bolingbrook Home Depot was charged Monday with nine additional felony counts of retail theft involving the Home Depot on Route 59 in Shorewood. The criminal complaint indicates that Thomas Shaver Jr. committed his crimes at the Shorewood business over the span of several weeks in 2019. Shaver is accused of stealing several high-dollar items during seven separate visits to the Shorewood store last summer. Shorewood's Police Department conducted the criminal investigation and a warrant was issued Monday for Shaver's capture. According to the criminal complaint, Shaver is accused of stealing: An Echo Gas Trimmer on July 7. A DeWalt nailer, a Husky worklight and a Dremel tool on July 15.A Wet Dry Vac and a vacuum cleaner, also on July 15.A DeWalt air compressor on July 23.A DeWalt planer on July 25 worth more than $300.A Bosch concrete demolition hammer on July 25.An Echo leaf blower on July 30.A Milwaukee compound miter saw on Aug. 1.A turbo fan and axial blower on Aug. 14.Last October, Patch reported that a Will County bench warrant was issued for Shaver's arrest related to the Bolingbrook Police Department criminal investigation. In that case, Shaver was charged with committing three retail thefts inside the Bolingbrook Home Depot store on North Weber Road. Shaver resides in the 100 block of South Division Street in Braidwood, court files show. His October criminal case remains in the pretrial stages at the Will County Courthouse.
