The Timbers of Shorewood took its first steps toward normalcy since the Coronavirus began. On Monday, June 15, the outdoor patio was opened for family visits with residents. To celebrate, accordionist Frank Rossi performed a special concert for residents. Rossi's speaker system was in a pickup truck and he moved around the outside of the building performing a concert for each wing as residents watched from their apartments. The audience members on the outdoor patio all wore masks, as did Rossi, and social distancing was strictly upheld by sitting at least six feet apart. Rossi is a Timbers' favorite. In fact, he has been performing throughout Chicagoland for decades. The Timbers also opened their restaurant for resident dining – two at a table, six feet apart. Set to begin are a walking club, Pokeno, Sittercise, and arts and crafts with ten or fewer people wearing masks and sitting far apart. Plans are in place to open the beauty/barber shop next week. "We are currently COVID-19 free and are striving to keep it that way," said Sheila Reyes, director of marketing. "This is a new and ever evolving situation. Many restrictions are still in place, but Frank Rossi's performance was a beginning for us. The residents loved it." The Timbers of Shorewood is a rental retirement community which provides senior independent living and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. Furnished apartments are also available for a short-term stay – a weekend, a week, a month or longer. For more information call 815-609-0669 or visit https://www.timbersofshorewood.com/.
