Mammy Dolls: Conversation and History will be a provocative, educational discussion and exhibition focused on the topic of Mammies. Please join Northwest Tap Connection for a challenging and provocative conversation, as well as an exhibition of artifacts, about the history and impacts of Mammies within African American culture. (The material will be of a mature nature; recommended for ages 16 and up.) This is part of a Cultural Education series that explores the struggles, strengths, and successes within black history, culture, and art to celebrate and examine women's history month, black film, artistic expressions, and travel - specifically the lives and success of African Americans in Oklahoma. Northwest Tap Connection is a race and social justice dance studio providing quality dance and job opportunities to under-served communities, and also to raise a generation of socially conscious artists who produce works that fosters change Note: tickets are FREE; only 20 tickets available for COVID-19 safety. Masks will be required. Parking: free parking available across Rainier Ave at the Rainier Community Pool and Playfields.
