Baba B, Shawn Ishimoto and Box State Rootz Grab your family and friends for the first time Hawaiian reggae artists Baba B and Shawn Ishimoto will perform in Colorado. For nearly 25 years, Baba B has been producing, writing and recording music in Hawaii. Baba B has had the privilege of performing live for fans all across Hawaii, the Pacific Ocean including Tahiti, Saipan, Guam and the west coast mainland in California and Nevada. Baba B is proud to be an island boy from the west side of Oahu, Waianae. His love and pride for the islands is clearly reflected in his music. Baba B has five released records; Big Boy in Love, Local Boy, Babalicious, Phat is Back and Squeeze Me Tease Me with songs that make you dance, lyrics you can relate to, songs to sing to and ballads to share with your special someone. Baba B has been fortunate to work with other talented musicians such as Jeff Rassmusen, Natural Vibes, B.E.T, Big Mountain, Daren Banitez, Ziggy Marley, Fiji and many more. Blind nearly since birth, Shawn Ishimoto, a nearly 30 year veteran of the Hawaii music scene, has recorded , been a part of, and traveled extensively with countless singers and bands in the Hawaii music scene until 2011 when he moved to LA. He has also had several solo albums over the years, one of them winning a local music award in 1999 for contemporary album of the year. After moving to LA, he worked with several artists and groups in the Southern California Hawaiian/Polynesian music scene. Working as a drummer, bassist, and guitar player for many groups and singers in the area. Now living in Las Vegas, Shawn works with many local bands around town as well as doing session work for album projects. He recently released an album “Wait Your Moment” with Jerome Grey, a pioneer of Samoan music. Starting with only 4 members in June 2021, with their first show being in a garage, the Box State Rootz has grown into a 9 piece group that has given the Colorado Springs Pacific Islander community their first homegrown band. Reggae, Calypso, Hip Hop, R&B and Country mixed with Pacific Islander vibes are the influences for what is called Island Reggae. Box State Rootz is proud to represent everyone who has made Colorado their home and will continue to bring a taste of Island Reggae to Colorado.
