Description

4 day, 3 night, Lenten Silent Retreat The parable of the sower is about loss and gain. The farmer went out to sow his seed, you will remember. A common occurrence all over the world. But for those of us less connected to the rhythms of the earth, it can be a vague and mysterious thing. We are told that when the farmer sowed his seeds, not all of them landed on fertile soil. Some of it fell on the packed path, and we see that some of it fed the birds (opportunists) and not his children. Some of it fell on rocky shallow ground, and some succumbed to the burning sun and missing water. Finally, some of it fell among the weeds and the thorns, and they were choked. But not all was lost. Some fell on good earth, and soon there was growth, in the land, as well as in the farmer’s dream. Loss and gain: the story of a field, yes, and moreso, the story of our life. Jesus challenges us to see and to understand the bad things that can happen when the seeds of our lives are not allowed to take root. In this week of retreat, join Jacqueline Loh and Bishop Ronald Gilmore of Grace that Reigns as they focus on what God might want for your life, and how to discern it; and as they pray for healing so that your rocks and weeds and thorns might work with the grace of these Lenten days. Jacqueline Loh is from the Archdiocese of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She was a professional Landscape architect/planner when she experienced a spiritual conversion that altered her life and set her on a new path.
