For more information contact us at [email protected] or (800) 303 - 3782. www.estellagastonfoundation.org Since its inception in 2017, participation in the Estella Gaston Foundation has grown from eight children to more than 100 children seeking the life-skills, guidance, and other activities available through the Foundation’s school-year program. Our Core Values Respect for self and others Honor authority Strength and empowerment Responsibility About Estella Gaston Estella Gaston was a pillar in her community on the west side of Chicago. Born with a big heart that continually served others, she was co-owner with her husband, Jimmie Gaston, of Chicago’s Jimmie-G’s Restaurant that served everyone from homeless regulars to the Mayor’s office, and from elementary schools to nursing homes – no one went hungry if she had anything to do with it. A strong believer in education, she made a contract with her high school customers at Jimmie-G’s: all honor-roll students had lunch on her! Although well-known for that kind of generosity, she was also known for her commanding style. No matter how hard the way, how deep the pain, how small the finances, or how fierce the trouble, it never showed in her countenance or her classic grace. Even at the end of her life, while battling cancer, visitors to her bedside would still be tickled by her humor and awed by her poise. This empowering combination of poise, stamina, style and generosity is the heartbeat of the Estella Gaston Foundation. Her fierce love of God, family, community, and service will live on in the purpose-filled lives of the children who the Foundation seeks to launch toward their destinies. ​It is a mission she would have championed.
