This 3-hour outdoor workshop is intended for land stewards and anyone else interested in learning how to manage habitat for wildlife. FIRST IN A 5-PART OUTDOOR WORKSHOP SERIES ON WILDLIFE HABITAT MANAGEMENT AT DISTANT HILLJoin Matt Tarr, Extension Professor & Wildlife Specialist, and Matt Kelly, Cheshire Country Forester, to learn how to recognize and improve habitat for wildlife in forests, fields, and wetlands. The workshop will be held outdoors at Distant Hill Gardens and Nature Trail in Walpole and Alstead and include a slow-paced off-trail walk over moderate terrain, with many stops for discussion. During this workshop we will visit some of the forest, field, and wetland habitats of Distant Hill. You will learn:How to recognize specific features that comprise each habitat typeWhat and how specific wildlife species use each feature as habitatHow to create or enhance habitat opportunities for specific wildlife Before attending the workshop, please watch this 33 min. informative video presentation: Intro to Assessing & Managing Wildlife Habitat We will apply the information introduced in this presentation throughout the workshop.
