ROMEOViLLE, IL — Metra announced Wednesday that it will be operating a modified schedule through Sunday as protests continue across the state. According to the website, as per the new, temporary schedule, there will be no trains for the Heritage Corridor line. "Due to curfew restrictions in communities across the region, the last inbound and outbound trains in the late evening will not operate, Metra stated in an alert. After the unrest caused by demonstrations condemning the death of George Floyd over the weekend, Metra had suspended all service on Monday "for the safety of the public and our employees," the company said. The agency had already running on an interrupted schedule for the third consecutive day as of Tuesday, after the service from and into downtown Chicago was stopped on Sunday. Riders have been advised that more trains could be cancelled during the day depending on circumstances. "We will be closely monitoring events and our priority will be the safety of our passengers, employees and our system," the announcement stated. For updates regarding the train schedules, visit the Metra website.
