ROMEOVILLE, IL — The Romeoville Police Department initiated a traffic stop at 7:14 p.m. Saturday on a vehicle in the area of Normantown Road and Townhall Drive.
According to Deputy Chief Brant Hromadka, the officer activated overhead lights, while the Toyota Scion — driven by 20-year-old Brandon M. Parks of Addison — continued to travel at a slow speed and parked in a parking space at 31 Alexander Drive (7-Eleven).
"The driver immediately exited the vehicle and began running southbound through the parking lot. Despite orders to stop, Parks continued to run until he fell face first into a yard," he said. "Parks then attempted to get back up and run again at which time he was apprehended following a short struggle with the officer."
After searching the surrounding area, the officer found several pills containing MDMA and a bag of cannabis, Hromadka said.
Parks was charged with fleeing/attempting to elude police, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, resisting/obstructing a peace officer and multiple traffic violations.
