Press release from the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce: March 18, 2022 The Iowa Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) presented nine annual awards to businesses and individuals who demonstrated their values and helped further the mission. Because of their resiliency, generosity, and commitment to make CF, a genetic disease that impacts the lungs and other organs, stand for Cure Found they are honored as this year's award recipients. The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is to cure cystic fibrosis and to provide all people with CF the opportunity to lead long, fulfilling lives by funding research and drug development, partnering with the CF community, and advancing high-quality, specialized care. Corporate Awards: The Hero of Hope Award is given to a company that does not have a direct connection to cystic fibrosis though continues to further fundraising efforts and awareness. With the support of Iowa Specialty Surgeons, we exceeded our annual fund goal during our Then & Now Challenge. West Bank has received the Corporate Champions Award due to successfully championing the cystic fibrosis cause within the company resulting in significant dollars raised. Individual Awards: The CF Star Award is awarded to a volunteer with cystic fibrosis that strives to help and support people within the CF community through community engagement, fundraising, advocacy, awareness, and education. Alex Mitchell started a golf tournament in Greenfield, Iowa with the help of his friends and family. The Advocacy Award was given to individuals who take a leading role in supporting the CF Foundation policy priorities and mobilize their community in Foundation advocacy efforts. Drew and Jaci Strube have been the National Advocacy Co-Chairs the last four years along with Chad Riedy and have done an amazing job. We honor them with this award. The Gifts for a Cure Award is an individual giving-focused award and is given to Jim & Jeanne Mott thanks to their significant impact in stewardship of the Annual Fund program. Jim & Jeanne made a generous donation in 2021 to challenge our community to match their donation. CFF far exceeded their annual goal. The Lifetime Achievement Award is awarded to a volunteer that is dedicated, committed, and contributes to the CF community. April Gross supported CF community events, teams, and families around the state with her individual donations. Team Awards: The Great Strides Team Award is presented to teams that make a significant impact in fundraising and awareness by participating in the chapter's Great Strides Program. The Andrea's Angels team (led by Susie Rider), More Mays for Maia (led by Ana Bumgardner), and Charlies Angels (led by Lynn Moore) were our top three teams in 2021.
