HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — The men's basketball team at St. Peter's University in Jersey City is headed to the Sweet 16. The Peacocks strutted over #7 Murray State University in Kentucky on Saturday night to advance to round 3 in the NCAA college basketball championships. The 15th-seeded team had beaten #2-ranked University of Kentucky on Thursday night to advance to Saturday night's game. Round 3 games begin on March 24. Sports publications have called St. Peters' rise through the ranks a "Cinderella story," noting that St. Peter's has a $1.6 million basketball budget, one of the lowest in Division I programs. The Peacocks were seeded #15 when they took on #7 Murray State Racers in the second round of the NCAA tournament Saturday night.
