2 Arrested After I-93 Chase With 8-Month-Old Baby In SUV

SALEM, NH — Two people were arrested on Saturday after an early morning chase by New Hampshire State Police through four towns that led to Salem police releasing spike strips in an attempt to stop the SUV. Around 2:30 a.m., a trooper saw an SUV "operating erratically" on I-93 north in Londonderry, Lt. Bryan Trask of Troop B said. The SUV crossed over the grassy median, in an effort to take Exit 5, and the trooper attempted to stop the vehicle. "After stopping briefly, the vehicle took off, fleeing on Interstate 93 southbound and a pursuit ensued," Trask said. "During the pursuit the vehicle continued to operate erratically, swerving all over the road. The troopers also observed items being thrown out of the vehicle." As the SUV drove south, through Derry and Windham, Salem police prepared spike strips near Exit 2. The spike strips, Trask said, deflated three of the SUV's tires. The driver took the Exit 2 offramp, drove onto Pelham Road, and stopped about a mile later, on a dead-end road, he said. Both Travis Tillman, 20, of Lowell, Massachusetts, and Hailey Dorr, 21, of Manchester were then arrested. State police found an 8-month-old baby in the SUV as well as two other occupants. EMTs were requested to check on their condition and all were found to be fine, he said. Tillman was charged with a single reckless conduct count and two counts of felony criminal restraint, all felonies, as well as endangering the welfare of a child, reckless operation, disobeying an officer, and operating with a suspended license charges. He was released later on cash bail. Dorr had an active warrant unrelated to the case and she was released later. Trask thanked both Salem police and fire and rescue teams for their assistance with the case.
