Here are the top three stories in Phoenix today: Phoenix police arrested 27-year old Brenda Villela for allegedly stabbing her mother early Wednesday morning in the 3700 block of South 7th Avenue. The stabbing happened while Villela's mother was driving and caused the car to crash, said police. Her mother was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, but as of Thursday was stable. (Phoenix Patch)Parts of Interstate 10, Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) and State Route 143 (Hohokam Expressway) will see closures and restrictions this weekend due to ongoing work related to the Broadway Curve Improvement Project, said the Arizona Department of Transportation. Pavement improvement work will take place on Eastbound I-10 between Avondale Blvd. and Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) from 9 p.m. on Mar. 18 to 5:00 a.m. on Mar. 21. Northbound State Route 143 will be closed between I-10 and Washington Street from 10 p.m. on Mar. 19 to 4 a.m. on Mar. 21. (FOX 10 News Phoenix) Houston-based Medistar, the developer for the downtown Phoenix Central Station project, will officially begin construction on the site on Apr. 13. Work on the long-awaited redevelopment of the transit depot, had already begun on the 2.6-acre site. The project will include a 32-story tower that will have 263 apartments and 70,000 square feet of office space, a 21-story tower with 435 rooms of student housing, 9,000 square feet of office space and 45,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and restaurants.
