PLAINFIELD, IL — Even though several businesses have reopened as the state moved to Phase 4 of the governor's Restore Illinois plan amid the coronavirus pandemic, a premiere entertainment destination in the village had decided to keep its doors closed. In a social media post earlier, Plainfield Lanes announced that it will not be opening to the public due to the restrictions in place. However, the alley has decided now to open on July 6. According to the directives, select indoor recreation facilities (e.g., bowling alleys, skating rinks), as well as clubhouses can reopen. Indoor recreation can operate at lesser of 50 customers or at 50 percent capacity. "Unfortunately, the decision was made to allow a maximum of 50 people in any bowling facility regardless of its size - 4 lanes or 84," the Facebook post said. "This decision also does not correlate with other businesses allowed to reopen in phase 4, most being limited based on a % of capacity which correspond to facilities size, not a flat number." Opened in 2014, Plainfield Lanes is a popular bowling location for all of Will County. When the stay-at-home order was passed in March, the alley had shut down, with hopes of being able to reopen soon. For more news and information like this, subscribe to the Plainfield Patch for free.
