PLAINFIELD, IL — The Canadian National Railway crossing on Route 126, just east of Route 59 in Plainfield, will remain closed for repairs starting 9 a.m. Monday, the Illinois Department of Transportation announced in a news release.
A detour will direct car traffic to Route 59, 135th Street/Pilcher Road and Essington Road. Truck traffic will be detoured to Route 59, Route 30, northbound I-55, Weber Road exit, southbound I-55 and Route 126 exit.
The work is expected to be complete by 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, IDOT said.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers areurged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limitsand be on the alert for workers and equipment.
Over the next six years, IDOT is planning to improve more than 3,300 miles of highway and 8.4 million square feet of bridge deck as part of the Rebuild Illinois capital program, which isinvesting $33.2 billion into all modes of transportation. The first year included approximately $2.7 billion of improvements statewide on 1,706 miles of highway, 128 bridges and 228 additionalsafety improvements.
