I'm searching for a percussionist who would enjoy playing the beat behind some very different music from the Mediterranean part of the world. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIldmjXHdHE Above is an example of the type of material. It definitely has a dark vibe to most of it, though there is some pretty nice sounding stuff in the repertoire too. For the most part, the rhythm patterns are fairly simple. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nsi26CcwGGU&t Here is another example, played by me, on the instrument you would be accompanying. It is a Cretan laouto, and can be used as a lead or rhythmic instrument, depending on the lineup. Ideally, I'd love to also get a string player into the fold, but at the moment am looking mostly for a percussionist to keep the beat. I would be open to collaborating with just about anyone on any instrument for this project. I want it to be experimental and different. I will be booking local gigs, open mics etc, with the main goal being to just have fun - enjoying the music and playing it purely for the love of playing music. I'm already doing it solo but having a beat behind the music helps a lot. If this interests you and you like the sound of the above examples, get in touch.
