SMART Makes Additional Service Changes Amid CA Stay-At-Home Order

NORTH BAY, CA — In response to changes in ridership demand resulting from what are now, statewide stay-at-home orders, the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit District announced Friday it was making additional changes its train service schedule. SMART is committed to serving riders who rely on public transit to conduct essential business and access vital resources such as healthcare, pharmacies and grocery stores, SMART Spokeswoman Julia Gonzalez said in a news release. "SMART will continue to provide train service and will make schedule adjustments as necessary in order to respond to ridership patterns and demand," Gonzalez said. All weekend SMART service remains canceled. The following changes take effect Monday and remain in place on weekdays until further notice: Temporarily weekday canceled trains Southbound 6:38 a.m. out of the Sonoma County Airport stationNorthbound 8:14 a.m. out of the Larkspur stationSouthbound 9:18 a.m. out of the Sonoma County Airport stationTemporarily ADDED weekday trains: To ensure adequate afternoon service, SMART is adding a southbound midday train departing from the Sonoma County Airport at 1:49 p.m.; here is the schedule for this added trip: Sonoma County Airport 1:49 p.m.Santa Rosa North 1:56 p.m.Santa Rosa Downtown 2:00 p.m. Rohnert Park 2:08 p.m.Cotati 2:11 p.m.Petaluma Downtown 2:26 p.m.Novato San Marin 2:38 p.m.Novato Downtown 2:41 p.m.Novato Hamilton 2:49 p.m.Marin Civic Center 2:55 p.m.San Rafael 3:01 p.m.Larkspur 3:08 p.m.The following cancellations went into effect earlier this week: ALL WEEKEND service remains canceledSouthbound 7:10 a.m. out of the Sonoma County Airport station Northbound 8:46 a.m. out of the Larkspur stationSouthbound 4:29 p.m. out of the Sonoma County Airport station Northbound 6:05 p.m. out of the Larkspur stationBecause other transit agencies have also modified their service schedules during the stay-at-home order, SMART riders are advised to visit 511.org/alerts/emergencies/coronavirus.
