Description
We have made the very difficult decision to find a new home for our sweet 10 year-old border collie mix Sawyer, after adding a baby to our family. We feel sad to admit that his quality of life has probably diminished since the baby arrived; and he deserves a family that can dedicate the type of love, attention, and space to him that we can no longer provide.
We adopted Sawyer from a shelter when he was 6-months old. He's a very good, sweet dog. He would do best in a home with no kids, cats, or dogs – he is a working dog, and he sees young kids and pets as a job, and it’s impossible for him to "turn it off".
Sawyer loves walks, hikes, swimming (basically everything outside), as well as company and play. He's incredibly smart and loves to do tricks.
His working dog instincts are the reason we're looking for a pet-free and kid-free family (no kids under 10) for him. Around our kid and our late cat, he is always on the move – pacing, focused, and herding (never aggressive). When he's separated from that, he finally rests on the couch. We think he's gotten to a point where he needs to rest on his own terms.
It's been agonizing to make this decision, but we think it'll be best for Sawyer.
Rehoming fee: $150
