PETALUMA, CA — A Petaluma school is one of dozens in the Bay Area awarded a combined $100,000 in grants to fund programs ranging from musical instruments to Korean language classes to Chromebook laptops for students to use in classrooms. St. Vincent de Paul Elementary School will use its $3,000 grant to expand its athletics programs, and buy 10 new volleyballs and a SNAG Biddy golf set. The grants, presented on Dec. 12 to students and teachers, were given out as part of the Wells Fargo KNBR Step Up to the Plate program, which has granted more than $1.3 million over the last 18 years. Brandon Crawford, shortstop for the San Francisco Giants, helped present the combined $100,000 in grants to 32 Bay Area schools.
