Solar, nature, and play are the cornerstones of community healing at this unique nonprofit facility. Explore the grounds and hear its story.
COVID protocols: masking and valid proof of vaccination are required inside this health care facility. No exceptions.
Since 1947, the nonprofit Morrison Child and Family Services has provided culturally responsive, anti-oppressive mental health and substance use disorder treatment, support, and prevention services to children, youth, and families across Portland. Building healthy communities means finding balance at all levels of life, and Morrison's Rotary Youth Center in East Portland combines zero energy design with rich artistic harmony to promote the health of the community and the planet simultaneously. This efficient and fully solar-powered building is the result of a visionary collaboration between Morrison, Rotary Club of Portland, EMA Architecture, and many other organizations, and its origins show what is possible when hands join together for a higher purpose.
Join Solar Oregon at 6 PM on March 31 for an on-site panel discussion to hear from several members of the project team, who will share the stories of what makes this building special and the unique challenges that they encountered. You'll have the opportunity to explore the grounds and socialize. Speaker bios coming soon.
Space is limited, so make sure to RSVP early for this free educational event. Free car and bike parking are plentiful, and the site is near both bus and Max lines.
