Celebrate Poetry Month with an Open Mic event! Join the Morganton Cultural Arts Commission, Adventure Bound Books, and Thornwell Books on the Morganton Community House Patio for an evening of poetry as we celebrate National Poetry Month! Take the mic and share your original poetry or read from a favorite published poet. Each individual will have a maximum of five (5) minutes at the mic to share poetry. You MUST sign up for a time slot at the mic but you do not have to sign up if you plan to attend to listen. Be sure to arrive several time slots ahead of your chosen time as the poets ahead of you may not use their full 5 minutes. Mic times are approximate and we will move through the list once each poet has finished sharing. If you miss your time slot for any reason, we will notate the lineup and call poets again at the end of the last scheduled time who missed their earlier slot. This is a family friendly evening! * Obscene, derogatory racist, homophobic, transphobic, xenophobic, or otherwise hate-filled poetry and speech will not be tolerated. The mic will be cut and the speaker escorted from the staging area if an individual attempts to speak in such ways during the event.
