Thank you for your interest in attending the SC Latinx Student Summit in Conway, South Carolina! This event will be held at the William H. Alford Ballroom in Athenaeum Hall on Thursday, April 28th from 6 to 8 PM. Athenaeum Hall is located at 104 Independence Dr., Conway, SC 29526. Admission is free and attendance is limited. The summit will also be broadcast live on the South Carolina Commission for Minority Affairs' (SCCMA) Facebook page (@southcarolinaminorityaffairs). This summit's theme is "Forging New Pathways," which highlights the importance of uniting the local Latinx community in Horry County and the current and prospective students at CCU. The summit will bring students together to provide them with information about financial and economic resources, networking opportunities, and includes a speaker that inspires the next generation of Latinx leaders. Keynote speaker Miriam Berrouet , CCU alum, is the owner and operator of Bilingual Connections and serves as an advisory board member for the Latino Affairs division at the SCCMA. She is a qualified interpreter for the State of South Carolina and interprets in criminal, family, and magistrate courts as well as local area schools, hospitals, and various other agencies. Miriam is passionate about supporting her community and has been recognized by the City of Myrtle Beach as the 2020 Volunteer of the Year. The event also features La Beca Summit Scholarships, where Latinx students will have the chance to win a scholarship towards their college education. This SC Latinx Student Summit is organized by the SC Commission for Minority Affairs in collaboration with Coastal Carolina University and Palmetto Luna Arts. **Seats are limited and priority will be given to students.
