Pottstown SD Asks Parents For Input On School Reopening

POTTSTOWN, PA — Pottstown Superintendent of Schools Stephen Rodriguez said all plans are subject to change as the district moves into fall. Rodriguez asks parents to view a video presentation about options for reopening. Then, parents should use the information to respond to a survey. "We need your help to prepare for the start of the school year," Rodriguez told parents on Wednesday. He asked parents of students in the Pottstown School District to go to this link and take time to hear about options, health and safety, and other considerations. The presentation points to conflicts related to three good objectives: Keeping students safe and well, making sure students learn, and considering economic impact on "families where many are already suffering." Rodriguez talks through "complicated choices" in the video. He emphasizes that he is not the one who decides on a re-opening plan. "The School Board of Directors will ultimately decide," he said. But, he added, the decision is being made with as much input as possible. The superintendent asked parents, after viewing the presentation, to complete an online survey by Sunday night, July 26. The survey can be accessed here. "Your input will help us provide the best options possible to keep our students and staff safe, as well as to keep our kids learning. Thank you for your continued support and cooperation!" Rodriguez said. The survey results will be made public after it closes, he added.
