Intoxicated Woman Crashed Car, Resisted Arrest: Chatham Police

CHATHAM, NJ - A 29-year-old Harrison woman was arrested and charged with cracked up her car whole intoxicated and fled from police on Nov. 24, according to the Chatham Borough Police Department. According to authorities, Officer Matthew Belcastro was investigating a one-car accident on Route 24 and while speaking with the driver, Angela Perez, the officer made numerous observations and suspected that she was under the influence. Inside the vehicle were several items associated with the use of narcotics, police said. Perez became agitated and attempted to flee on foot, running into traffic and at this point she was placed under arrest for obstructing administration of law, police said. During a search, Belasco located suspected marijuana, hypodermic needles and other items associated with the use of narcotic, police said. As a precaution, Perez was transported to an area hospital, evaluated and released. She was then transported to Police Headquarters for processing. Perez was also charged with resisting arrest, obstruction administration of law, possession hypodermic needles, driving while license suspended, possession of CDS, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, driving after license suspended or revoked, careless driving, possession of CDS in motor vehicle and obstructing passage of other vehicles, police said.
