In this class, students will concentrate primarily on sharpening plane irons and wood chisels. The topics to be covered include, types of steel, edge geometry, various sharpening methods, and sharpening equipment. Students should bring one plane iron and one wood chisel to the class that they can practice on sharpening. The Tormek sharpening system will be demonstrated, along with combination stones and honing jigs. Students have the option of providing their own safety glasses or they can be provided.
