Woman Charged With DUI In October 2021 Turns Herself In: Police

WESTPORT, CT — A woman who was charged with driving under the influence following an October 2021 crash was arrested this week after turning herself in to the Westport Police Department, police said. On Oct. 21, 2021, police identified Rebecca Robinson, 27, of Norwalk as the driver of a car that hit a utility pole on 155 Riverside Ave. at around 8:55 p.m., causing what police called "extensive damage" to the car and the pole. She was hospitalized that night for "what appeared to be minor injuries," police said. After a Westport officer obtained a warrant for her arrest, Robinson was charged with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol and failure to drive in the proper lane. She turned herself in on Wednesday afternoon (March 16), Westport police said. Robinson was released after posting a $500 bond, and she is scheduled to be arraigned in Stamford Superior Court on March 28. The officer who responded to the October 2021 crash requested a search warrant to obtain Robinson's blood alcohol level during the crash's time frame after noticing her eyes were glassy and bloodshot and her breath smelled strongly of alcohol, police said. After the search warrant was granted, police said, a toxicology report "purportedly showed" her blood alcohol content was above the legal limit. Then, based on the officer's observations of the crash and the toxicology report's results, the warrant for her arrest was approved, police said.
