NORWOOD, MA - Norwood police on Thursday arrested a Boston police veteran officer who is facing charges including possession of child pornography.
Joe Martinez, a Boston Police officer since 2008, was charged with possession of child pornography, posing a child under 18 for nude photos and secret sex surveillance of a nude person under 18, according to a statement released by the Boston Police Department.
"The alleged behavior committed by this Boston police officer is disturbing," said BPD Superintendent-in-Chief Gregory Long. "The Boston Police Department will continue to hold its officers to the highest standards."
Martinez has been placed on administrative leave, police said. The Boston Police Bureau of Professional Standards will continue to work with the Norwood police and the Norfolk District Attorney's Office during the course of the investigation.
Martinez is expected to be arraigned Friday in Dedham District Court.
