I-5 Crash In Tacoma: 1 Dead, 6 Hurt, Multiple Vehicles Involved

TACOMA, WA — One person died in a crash Friday morning on Interstate 5 in Tacoma, state police said. The crash happened around 7:45 a.m. Friday on the northbound lanes of the interstate, near South 38th Street, the state Department of Transportation said. Multiple cars and commercial vehicles were involved in the wreck, a spokesman for the Washington State Patrol District 1 said. Six people were hurt, Tacoma Fire said. One was in critical condition, two were seriously hurt, and one was taken to a hospital as a precaution. Two people were treated at the scene and released. Drivers were told to use alternate routes, as all northbound lanes were closed. Traffic cameras showed fire crews at the scene around 9 a.m. Friday Five cars and two semi-trucks were involved in the wreck, Trooper Robert Reyer told KCPQ-TV.
