NEW MILFORD, CT — A doorbell camera captured a brawl of agricultural proportions this week where two pigs fended off a wandering bear after he casually made his way into their pen.
Owner Kevin David submitted the video of Hammy and Mary's moment to News 8. While Mary did her best to intimidate the bear, Hammy ultimately convinced him that whatever he was after wasn't worth it.
"I am very proud of them because Hammy, the little one especially, he's afraid of his own shadow and the way he came charging out when he saw Mary tussling with the bear," owner Rebecca Shaw told NBC Connecticut. "He was like 'oh no, no way, get out."
David told News 8 he didn't think the bear was attacking the pigs — he was likely after something Hammy and Mary were digging up.
"They're fine," David said. "They're some heavy pigs and we're pretty sure that bear is still a cub."
