Happy Saturday, neighbors! Here's everything you need to know about what's happening in Salt Lake City today. First, today's weather: Clouds and sun; breezy, mild. High: 66 Low: 43. Sunset: 7:39 PM Here are the top three stories today in Salt Lake City: Salt Lake City has been selected to participate in a federal solar energy program to increase cleaner energy output in underserved areas. The city will use the funding from the program to work with several community partners to install more solar panels to non-residential businesses and structures on Salt Lake's west side in hopes to minimize the poor air quality for the side of town that has the airport, the freeways and other large-scale industrial facilities and operations. (Subscription: Salt Lake Tribune) A lawsuit that claims one of the free-roaming peacocks at Utah's Hogle Zoo attacked and injured 2-year-old girl may not be the only known incident of peacock aggression toward children at the zoo. The complaint states that two other children may have been attacked as recently as a day prior to the alleged incident, and claims that a zoo employee told the family this may have been the fourth incident with the same peacock in just two days. (KUTV 2News) City planners are in a race to collect public input and plan a regional park where the old Raging Waters waterpark is, since a federal stipulation requires the park be completely done by April 2024. That gives just two years for the city's engineers, landscape architects and public lands managers at several city divisions to engage the public, settle on a concept, raze the waterpark and construct a new 17-acre park along the Jordan River Parkway at 1700 South. Right now the public can weigh in on two concepts titled "The Great Outdoors" and "The Glendale Green." The love story between Angie and her husband Kevin is sweetly told in The Salt Lake Tribune: "She completed Kevin and allowed him to be who he was. I know she would do anything for him, and in return, he always did everything for her." (Downtown SLC)"The Glendale Regional Park Vision Plan survey is now live! Take the survey here: https://tinyurl.com/GlendalePark2022 The ideas, activities, and amenities are all derived from public input done this fall and winter with Glendale residents. We appreciate the time they've made to ensure the park serves community needs for a long time to come." (Salt Lake City Public Lands)"This is a smart, meaningful first film, with nods all over the place to classics like "The Shining" and "Rosemary's Baby," as well as more recent obvious touchpoints like Get Out. It's not all subtle, but then neither is prejudice." - Time Out.
