GLEN BURNIE, MD — A woman died in a Glen Burnie house fire early Friday morning, officials said. Authorities identified her as 68-year-old Darlene Feeheley. A press release said Feeheley's 72-year-old husband and a firefighter were also hospitalized. Occupants and neighbors reported the blaze with people trapped around 12:38 a.m. First responders said they arrived to smoke and flames coming from the two-story, single-family home in the unit block of Greenwood Avenue. Crews found Feeheley in cardiac arrest on the second floor. Officials said paramedics could not save her, and they pronounced her dead on the scene. Feeheley's husband escaped before firefighters arrived. Medics took him to the burn unit at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore. His injuries are critical and possibly life-threatening, authorities said. The release said the wounded firefighter suffered a minor eye injury. That crewmember went to the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie. Officials are still investigating what caused the accidental fire, which started in the kitchen. Authorities did not estimate how much damage the flames caused, but they said the house had one functioning smoke detector that sounded properly. A team of 42 controlled the fire in about 45 minutes, the release said.
