PLAINFIELD, IL — A woman with three young kids improperly secured in her car was arrested after officers determined she was driving while intoxicated March 11, Plainfield police said. Officers were called to the area near Route 59 and 143rd Street for a complaint of reckless driving around 10:52 p.m. Police said someone reported seeing a 2016 Kia Optima hitting the curb, stopping at green traffic lights and failing to stay within lanes of traffic, officials told Patch. Using the caller's vehicle description and direction of travel, police caught up with the Kia around Route 30 and Renwick Road. The driver, identified as Kendra M. Stanback, was pulled over when officers saw three children, ages 3, 7 and 11, improperly secured in the car, police said. Stanback, of the 1000 block of Lois Place in Joliet, appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, and she agreed to take standardized field sobriety tests, police said. The 31-year-old was arrested after police determined she had in fact been driving intoxicated, "based upon the officer's training and experience and the results of those tests," Commander Anthony Novak said. The woman was taken to the police department and charged with 10 offenses, including three counts of child-restraint violations, driving under the influence with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or higher, and operating an uninsured vehicle. She was also charged with driving with a revoked or suspended license, her second issuance and a felony. After charges were approved, Stanback was taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
