JOLIET, IL — On St. Patrick's Day, Joliet police officers arrested a 44-year-old semi-trailer driver who was drinking several alcoholic beverages while driving, according to police.
Jose Angulo of Burbank was booked into the Will County Jail on charges of aggravated DUI, obstructing a peace officer and illegal transportation of open alcohol.
Around 1:35 p.m., Joliet officers were sent to the area of Laraway Road and Brandon Road after being alerted that a semi-tractor trailer was driving recklessly and swerving into oncoming traffic. Joliet police pulled over Angulo in the 23000 block of Laraway Road and he showed signs of being impaired by alcohol, police spokesman Dwayne English said.
"Angulo refused to attempt to complete field sobriety tests and Angulo attempted to pull away from officers as they attempted to place him in custody," English indicated.
Officers managed to take Angulo into custody and deliver him to the Will County Jail, where he was booked into custody at 4:22 p.m.
When Joliet police searched Angulo's semi-tractor, officers recovered multiple open alcohol containers, English noted.
