Here are the top five stories in Raleigh today: Wake County has received $4.1 million in funding from the federal government to fight homelessness. The money has gone to six government agencies and nonprofits. Much of the money will go to permanent supportive housing, and housing for and vulnerable populations. The grant provides a 22% increase in funding over last year. (INDY Week)Details have come to light regarding the police chase in which a suspect fired at police on Thursday. The suspect was Willie Jerome Daniels who was pursued by officers after reportedly setting fire to his Knightdale home in the attempted murder of his wife. After encountering officers near the intersection of New Bern Avenue and New Hope Road, and a confrontational pursuit, Daniels was taken into custody. (CBS17)On Friday morning, at least 12 cars were involved in a crash on I-440 near Wade Avenue. The I-440 east lanes were all closed between Wade Avenue (Exit 4) and Lake Boone Trail (Exit 5) until 8:00 am when one lane was reopened. (WRAL)Downtown businesses welcomed St. Patrick's Day festivities with lots of green festivities. The holiday brought an influx of business with partygoers ready to enjoy the first major holiday with mask restrictions dropped. Employees and customers at Hibernian enjoyed the St. Patrick's Day block party as a long-awaited celebration. (abc11)Raleigh's Vision Church has launched its R.A.G.E. program to try to invest in small businesses that have struggled throughout the pandemic. The Random Acts of Generosity Everywhere initiative is trying to make small investments in businesses and is challenging others to do the same. The church's pastor, Jerome Gay says the Lord gave him a vision to display faith through generosity, and the pandemic has given them an opportunity to enact that generosity.
