We recently adopted a very cute female puppy, half Akita and half German Shepherd. She is going on 4 months now. We need to find a new home for her but are also in no rush until we find the right person/people. She is house broken, knows basic commands, and very friendly. We take her to the playground three times a week where she gets doted on by gangs of little kids and plays often with other dogs. We have been keeping her socialized because of the Akita. I really want either someone who already has experience with this breed or has the time and patients to learn with her. She will be a large dog when fully grown and needs a strong leader. She is very intelligent and very perceptive. She is an absolute joy to have, she is sweet natured and submissive. We haven't had her very long but the issue I'm having is that she can't really find her niche with our family. I don't know what she's been through or what her life was like before we adopted her but it seems to have been bad. We have given her loads of encouragement and positive reinforcement but she is still terrified of most men. She is great with our kids and sometimes my husband but she tends to just hide under our kitchen table. I'm at a loss and want her to be happy. When men walk up to her she with get submissive and pee. Kids and women she fine and full of kisses. I would love to spend year's helping her but I have two toddlers and not really the capability to rehabilitate a puppy right now.
